Fur flies over Louis Vuitton store display of 'tigers'
The pictures here were taken last week by a supporter of TigerTime. This campaigning organisation has written to Louis Vuitton to express its dismay, but has yet to receive a reply. Vuitton autumn ad campaign features models draped in fur, clutching bags made from exotic skins and holding puppies. It seems Marc Jacobs, who I sure probably has a couple of designer dogs he loves dearly, living creatures according to a strict, arbitrary hierarchy. TigerTime campaign was set up about 12 weeks ago to highlight the fact that while 80 years ago there were 100,000 wild tigers, now there are only 3,200. The main threats are habitat loss and poaching wskins or other body parts for use in so called traditional medicines TM. This glamorisation of big cats I hated the Julianne Moore ads for Bulgari, where she embraced leopard cubs can only lead to their ultimate demise. Vintage taxidermy has risen in popularity, and whilst I am no way advocating the creation of new specimens, fail to see what harm using an animal that has probably been dead for a hundred years next to a gown printed with a tiger pattern has to do with them being endangered?
It mad to suggest that to glamourise them only endangers them further. Are you seriously suggesting than Louis Vuitton is endorsing them as pets for the jet set?
Louis Vuitton are one of the worst offenders for producing and selling real fur products. However, I wish Liz Jones would direct her attention to a campaign to have CCTV installed by law into all UK abattoirs, in light of the appalling, sadistic cruelty meted out to pigs by staff at Cheale Meats in Essex exposed thanks to secret filming by Animal Aid. Thanks to Animal Aid we know that sadists can be employed at slaughterhouses where they can inflict misery on the animals in their charge for their own sick ends before they are killed, without fear of prosecution! DEFRA refuses to prosecute because it says the fiming was done in secret and by trespass on private premises. This is an outrage please Liz, lets lobby parliament to ensure that a central part of abattoir regulations is that they all have proper CCTV installed, regularly monitored by third parties to ensure animals sent for slaughter are at least protected from torture by sadistic workers before they are killed.
I find it deeply tragic that the fashion houses are glamourising the use of fur, and especially those of endangered species. It makes no difference if it is a stuffed tiger which has been dead hundreds of years, michael kors femmes, or is a dummy. so, I guess ur mind is too small to open on a thought like that dear.
also ur comment about the BVLGARI campaign that features a Lion, Its not suggesting to have Lion as a pet. It maybe not even a real Lion. It only to bring the message and philosophy that as a "KING" of this the Jet Set gotta wear BVLGARI.
there one comment that stop me for a moment:
"But Liz didnt you praise a alligator bag a couple of months ago also you still bang on about Louboutins (leather shoes) etc you are just a hypocrite with no sense of fashion at all"
